URDIP's PAMEP database to preserve Bio-resource of India As per a recent news report, Unit for Research and Development of Information Products (URDIP), Pune has created a new database to safe guard Indian bio-resource and traditional knowledge from being exploited through bio-piracy and unethical patents and commercial exploitation. The new database provides patents related to major Indian medicinal plants. The database on Patent on Aromatic, Medicinal and Economic Plants (PAMEP) is supported by the National Bio-resource Development Board (NBDB) and would be extended to IBIN portal. The PAMEP database is expected to be launched on the IBIN portal in August 2012.
